Idaho sits in the Pacific Northwest, adjacent to Washington and Oregon so students attending colleges in Idaho have the best of both words. Its landscape includes rivers, lakes, mountains, grassy hillsides, and farmland. The northern part of the state normally receives more rain and southern Idaho generally has warmer summers.
Lewis-Clark State College
Lewis-Clark State College sits in north-central Idaho region right on the Washington Border between the Clearwater River and the Snake River. It’s a smaller college with an annual enrollment of about 3,500 students a year and they participate in intramural sports. Lewiston is the second-largest city in northern Idaho and is 5 hours from Boise (the capital) and 2 hours from Spokane, Washington.
University of Idaho (UI)
The University of Idaho is in northern Idaho in the city of Moscow. This university offers plenty of biking, sidewalks, public transportation, parking, and golf for it’s 11,000 students to enjoy.
Boise State University
Boise State University is located in southern Idaho in the state capital, Boise. This is the most populated and active city in Idaho and is less than 50 miles from Oregon. It has everything a city has to offer and is also known for it’s Boise River Greenbelt which stretches 20 miles along the Boise River.
BSU is the largest public university in Idaho and participates in NCAA Division I sports. Their nickname is the Broncos. Like other large universities, they have on-campus housing which is primarily co-ed. However, many students choose to live off-campus.
Idaho State University
Idaho State University’s main campus is in Pocatello in the southeastern part of the state and is also located in Meridian and Twin Falls. Though it has a variety of degree programs to choose from, it has the most health-related programs in Idaho. Student housing is also offered for parents with children. Their athletic teams compete in the Big Sky Division 1 conference and their mascot is the Bengals.
